Sales Orders

Confirm what a customer has bought, reserve stock and credit, then deliver and invoice.

Overview

A sales order is the commitment between you and the customer. Confirming it reserves stock and reserves the customer’s credit; cancelling it before invoicing releases both.

Delivery and invoicing are created from the order, so the whole chain stays linked.

Sales Orders in the Sales module.

When to use sales orders

  • A customer accepts a quotation or places an order directly.
  • You need stock reserved and credit checked at confirmation.
  • You want delivery and invoice progress on one screen.

Prerequisites

Step by step

Open Sales → Transactions → Sales Orders.

Lifecycle

Cancelling a confirmed order before it is invoiced releases the reserved credit.

Accounting impact

  • Confirmation reserves credit only; it posts nothing.
  • Delivery posts cost of goods sold against stock, and invoicing posts receivables and revenue in Accounting.

Permissions

These permission keys control access (granted to roles in Administration → Roles & Permissions):

  • sales.orders.view
  • sales.orders.create
  • sales.orders.update
  • sales.orders.confirm
  • sales.orders.invoice
  • sales.orders.cancel

Automation

  • Confirming emits sales.order.confirmed and delivery emits sales.delivery.completed so other modules can react.
