Price Books
A price book is a list of prices for products, with validity dates, who it applies to and discount limits. Quotes pick the best matching book automatically.
Overview
Create one default book with your standard prices, then add specific books for a customer, segment, territory, industry or country. When you build a quote the engine scores every active book against the account and date: account match beats territory, then segment, industry, country and currency. The highest score wins; if nothing matches, the default book is used.
Each book can set a floor margin % and a maximum discount %. A quote line below the floor, or above the discount, is blocked or sent for approval according to Quote Approvals. Entries can have volume tiers: price per unit falls as the quantity rises.
When to use price books
- You sell the same product at different prices to different customers.
- You run a time-limited price list.
- You want to cap discounts per book.
