Lock Dates
Close finished periods so nothing can be posted into them.
Overview
A lock date stops any entry dated on or before it, even through the API. The screen shows the locked-through date, the enforcement scope, who authorised it, when and why. Pre-locking verification checks for draft or unreconciled items before you enforce.
Fiscal-year locks and the lock date work together; the stricter one applies.
When to use lock dates
- You have finished and reported a month or year.
- An auditor asks that closed periods be protected.
Step by step
In the Accounting module open Accounting in the green navigation bar, then choose Lock Dates under Management.

What you see on the screen
- Columns: Locked Through Date, Enforcement Scope, Authorized By, Action Date, Justification, Status.
- Actions on the screen: Enforce Lock Date.
