Receipts
Record money received from a customer and see how it was paid.
Overview
A receipt records cash or a payment received from a customer, with the mode of payment, and posts it to the ledger. It shares the invoice record, so it can be printed, emailed and reconciled like any other customer document.
Every receipt needs an explicit mode of payment; there is no pre-selected default, so the books always show how the money came in.
When to use receipts
- A customer pays at the counter or by transfer without a prior invoice.
- You need a printable proof of payment.
- You want the receipt matched to the bank later.
Step by step
In the Accounting module open Customers in the green navigation bar, then choose Receipts under Accounting.
