Permits to Work

Authorise dangerous work, with precautions, checks and expiry.

Overview

A permit to work has a type (for example hot work), precautions and checks such as a gas test that must pass before activation, and four-eyes authorisation by someone with the permit approve permission. An hourly job expires permits. A work order that needs a permit cannot start without an approved one.

When to use permits to work

• Work involves heat, confined spaces, height or other hazards.

Lifecycle

Permits are enforced as a start guard on work orders.

These permission keys control access (granted to roles in Administration → Roles & Permissions):

• assets.permit.manage
• assets.permit.approve

• Changes on this screen are written to the asset audit trail and the asset timeline.
