Put-away Rules
Rules that decide where incoming stock is stored.
Overview
A put-away rule has a priority, applies to a product or category in a warehouse, and names the location to store in. Receipts then suggest the right place automatically.
When to use put-away rules
- Different products belong in different areas.
Step by step
In the Inventory module open Config in the green navigation bar, then choose Put-away Rules under Settings & Locations.

What you see on the screen
- Columns: PRIORITY, RULE, WAREHOUSE, APPLIES TO, STORE IN.
- Actions on the screen: New Rule, Skip — I’ll set it up manually, Start.
Permissions
These permission keys control access (granted to roles in Administration → Roles & Permissions):
- inventory.warehouse.create
- inventory.warehouse.read
- inventory.warehouse.update
