Disposals & Auctions
Retire an asset: value it, approve, optionally auction, and post the gain or loss.
Overview
A disposal moves from request to valuation, submit (approval when net book value exceeds the threshold, 0 meaning always) and completion. Completion posts the ledger first: catch-up depreciation, then accumulated depreciation, proceeds, gain or loss and asset cost. Only then are the books closed and the asset (and optionally its components) set to Disposed. An auction has a reserve and closing time, bids can be recorded or withdrawn, and closing awards the best bid at or above the reserve.
When to use disposals & auctions
- You sell, scrap or auction equipment.
Prerequisites
Step by step
Lifecycle
The ledger posts before the books close, so a ledger refusal leaves everything unchanged.
