Webhooks & API Keys

Create API keys for machines and webhooks for outbound events.

Overview

API keys let a sensor gateway or another system post readings without a user session. A key has a scope such as assets.iot.write and is shown once when created. Outbound webhooks send asset events signed with HMAC-SHA256, with a delivery log and automatic retries.

When to use webhooks & api keys

• You connect a sensor gateway or SCADA system.
• You want another system to react to asset events.

Permissions

These permission keys control access (granted to roles in Administration → Roles & Permissions):

• assets.org.manage

• Changes on this screen are written to the asset audit trail and the asset timeline.
